Tony Todd is an American actor, voice actor and producer. He is perhaps best known for playing the titular character in the Candyman film franchise. Tony portrayed Grange in the 1994 film The Crow.

Early Life

Anthony Tiran Todd was born on December 4, 1954 in Washington, D.C.. Tony grew up in Hartford, Connecticut and attended local schools. He attended Artist Collective Inc. and the University of Connecticut before going on to study theater at Eugene O’Neill National Actors Theater Institute and Trinity Rep Conservatory.

Career

Tony appeared in over 100 theatrical and television films. Some of his movie credits include Platoon, Night of the Living Dead, Candyman, The Crow, The Rock,  The Final Destination series and the voice of The Fallen in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. He’s also acted in on and off Broadway productions. Some of these productions include King Hedley II, The Captain’s Tiger for which she received the Helen Hayes nomination. He also appeared in Les Blancs, Playboys of the West Indies, Othello, Zooman and the Sign and Dark Paradise. He also appeared in various television shows such as Law & Order, Homicide: Life on the Street, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Xena Warrior Princess among others. He also voiced Decepticon Dreadwing in Transformers: Prime and Icon in Young Justice. He is also scheduled to reprise his role as Candyman in the 2020 Candyman film.
