Richard Brooks is an American actor best known for his roles as Jubal Early in the space- western Firefly, and as assistant district attorney Paul Robinette in Law & Order. Richard portrayed Judah Earl in the 1996 film, The Crow: City of Angels.
Early Life[]
Richard L. Brooks was born December 9, 1962 in Cleveland, Ohio. Richard attended Interlochen Academy of Arts where he studied acting, dance, and voice work. Sometime later, he moved to New York City and attended the Square Professional Theater School.
Career[]
Richard had performed in the stage production of August Wilson’s Fences which earned him a positive reputation. Following his move to Los Angeles, Richard appeared in the television series, Hill Street Blues, in the episode the Russians Are Coming. Richard also appeared in made-for-TV movies such as Badge of The Assassin in 1985 and resting place in 1986. Richard appeared in feature films such as teen wolf in 1985, the hidden in 1987, Off Limits and Shakedown in 1988, and shocker in 1989. Richard also appeared in the award winning film 84C MoPic, a film directed by Patrick Sheane Duncan.
In the 1990s, Richard alternated between television appearances and films. Richard gain widespread exposure for his role as Paul Robinette on Law & Order. He also appeared in the films The Substitute and The Crow: City of Angels in 1996. He also portrayed Jubal Early in the science-fiction series Firefly.
Richard founded his own production company, Flat Top Entertainment LLC. In the year 2000, Richard released his first solo R&B album, smooth love on Flat Top Records. Richard also appeared in stage productions in the early 2010s such as Radio Golf and The Abolitionists.
Richard starred in the series Being Mary Jane, Person of Interest and he also had a recurring role on The Flash.
