Marcus Chong is an American actor. His most notables roles are Huey P. Newton in the 1995 film Panther, and Tank the Operator in the 1999 film The Matrix. Marcus portrayed War in the 2005 film The Crow: Wicked Prayer
Early Life[]
Marcus was born as Marcus Wyatt in Seattle, Washington on July 8, 1967 to Martin Wyatt, who was African and an unknown woman who was Chinese. Marcus was adopted by actor Tommy Chong and his wife Shelby Fiddis in 1978.
Career[]
Marcus started acting at the age of nine. His first role was as young Frankie Warner in the 1979 miniseries Roots: The Next Generations. Marcus was a guest star in the television series Little House on the Prairie in the episode “Blind Journey” part two.
Marcus originated the role of student Lee Cortez in the Broadway production of Stand-Up Tragedy, and it closed after 13 performances in October 1990. His performance earned him a Theater World Award in 1991, and he was also nominated for a Drama Desk Award for outstanding featured actor in a play.
In the early 90s, Marcus played Miguel Mendez on the television show Street Justice. He later appeared in the action series Vanishing Son as Fu Qua Johnson.
In 1999, Marcus appeared as Tank the Operator in the blockbuster The Matrix.
In 2001, Marcus made a guest appearance in season three of the television series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in the episode “Inheritance”. In 2005, Marcus appeared as War in the film The Crow: Wicked Prayer.
Recently, Marcus had a role in season four of the television series Burn Notice.
